Penfolds turns 170 this year, and to celebrate they've collaborated with Britain's top cabinet maker, David Linley, on a remarkable fine wine release. Teaming the Australian winemaker's respected tradition with that of time-honoured British craftsmanship, the collaboration sees a rare, exclusive vintage made available for the first time in 40 years.

‘LINLEY for PENFOLDS’ collaboration is a symbol of the new world, bespoke craftsmanship and a celebration of the birthplace of Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold – the founder of Penfolds.
David Albert Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley, known professionally as David Linley, is a luxury, bespoke English furniture maker and Chairman of the Auction House Christie’s UK.
The son of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, and Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon, he is the Queen’s nephew and the Chairman of his own company – LINLEY.
LINLEY is a luxury brand known for superlative craftsmanship, innovative design and precision engineering. Over the years David has worked closely with LINLEY designers and craftsmen to ensure each piece has the quintessentially British characteristics if inventiveness, attention to detail, ingenuity, creative spirit, eccentricity, sophistication, wit and charm.

Using both time-honoured and modern techniques, bespoke wooden cases were commissioned for the 2010 Bin 170 Kalimna Shiraz across all release formats (750ml, Magnum and Imperial).

A limited edition fine wine, was launched to commemorate the significant milestone as part of the Icon and Luxury Collection on May 1, 2014.
The wine - the 2010 Bin 170 Kalimna Shiraz - is a limited release, one-off single block, single vineyard wine made from the outstanding 2010 vintage. Created only once before in 1973, Bin 170 is sourced from old vines planted in the ancient soils of Block 3C, Kalimna vineyard in the Barossa Valley, South Australia.
A commemorative wine, such as the 2010 Bin 170 Kalimna Shiraz, is deserving of an equally formidable encasing.
