Though dense and chewy, this features a core of sweet cherry, currant, licorice and tobacco flavors. The tannins are assertive, but all the elements are well-proportioned. Best from 2018 through 2030.

Conterno Fantino is a wine producer based in Piedmont in northwest Italy. It was established by Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino in 1982, and is based on a hillside close to the village of Monforte d'Alba. The focus of the estate falls to four key grape varieties: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Chardonnay.
The estate makes three Barolo DOCG wines from the Ginestra and Mosconi cru vineyards.
Conterno Fantino also makes several varietal wines under the Barbera d'Alba and Dolcetto d'Alba appellations, as well as a couple of Chardonnay wines under the wider Langhe designation.
