Faiveley Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru 2000 750ml

Where tields are reasonable the wines are rich, elegant and fruity with good aging potential. This climat is named after the small houses known as "Mazis" that used to be present on this parcel. It is the most northern of the Gevrey-Chambertin Grands Crus. Our parcel lies in the"Mazis Haut" (upper Mazis) and offers a unique terroir composed of an alluvial cone where scree from the valley has gathered. The wines produced in this climat are seductive, lively and very deep.

Domaine Faiveley is located in France, at the heart of Viticultural Burgundy, between Dijon and Beaune in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
This illustrious company has been based in Nuits St Georges since the days of Pierre Faiveley who founded the business in 1825. His son Joseph gave his name to the family business, to be followed by the first François, Georges who was instrumental in founding the Chevaliers du Tastevin, Guy who developed the business in the Côte Chalonnaise, François who has recently retired and now his son Erwan, born in 1979.
Historically based in the Côte de Nuits capital, the Faiveley family has progressively extended its domaine and today owns vineyards in the finest climats in Burgundy - Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet, Mercurey and others. The vineyards are very fragmented. The average surface area per appellation is around just 1 hectare. The number of bottles produced for each wine is therefore very limited.
