Winemaker's note:
The Christoffel family in Ürzig, is related by marriage to the Prüm family in Wehlen. The estate is run by Karl Josef Christoffel (KaJo) has an extensive library of well-aged wines. All wines are fermented in the traditional 1000 Liter barrels with the natural yeast. This gives the wines a great aging potential.

The Wine Estate Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben heritage is for more than 400 years in the possession of the family and carries this name since the beginning of the 19th century. In 2001 Hans Leo Christoffel leases his Wine Estate to Robert Eymael, the owner of the vineyard Manchhof.
The Wine Estate possession lies in the region Uerzig (Wuerzgarten) and Erden (Treppchen).
The Wine Estate is exclusively planted with root-genuine vines which are partially over 100 years old. The root-genuine vines bring particularly at the steep slate hillsides only small grape quantities.
The development of the wines takes place in a separate part of the property yard. In order to receive the typical style of the wines, it was important for Robert Eymael that Hans Leo Christoffel gives also further his advices.
