I have had distinctly mixed experiences with this wine as the bottle in the big CSJ tasting did not show nearly as well as two other bottles tasted as recently as 2014. For the bottle in the tasting, it displayed an elegant and airy mix of mostly secondary fruit layered with notes of spice, earth and a floral hint. The sleek, refined and intense middle weight flavors brim with minerality before terminating in a firm and mildly edgy if not really drying finish where a proper dish would help. 89/now+. I would add that the 2014 bottle was considerably more interesting as it offered much better balance and merited 93 points.

Domaine Bruno Clair is a Burgundy producer with vineyards across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The majority of its wines are made from Pinot Noir, but it also makes Chardonnay and Aligoté covering the gamut of regional designations from Bourgogne and villages to premier and grand cru. Its most highly regarded sites are in the grand cru vineyards Bonnes-Mares, Corton-Charlemagne and Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze.
Named for its founder, Bruno Clair was established in 1979 with plots in Marsannay, Fixin, Savigny-les-Beaune and Morey-Saint-Denis. Bruno is the grandson of Bernard Clair, who established highly regarded Burgundy estate Domaine Clair-Daü in 1919. After Bernard died in the late 1970s, there was conflict over how to divide the estate but, in the 1980s, Bruno took on several more family vineyards including ones in esteemed villages such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. The purchase of additional vineyards in the 1990s brought the domaine to 23 hectares (57 acres).
