A firmly closed nose reveals nothing more than reduction and wood notes at present and about all that can be noted is that the underlying fruit seems ripe. Otherwise there is outstanding richness to the very rounded and suave medium weight plus flavors that possess an abundance of dry extract that both coats the palate and buffers the moderately firm acid spine on the mineral-driven, saline and notably more persistent finish. This is more obviously structured and will need a few more years of cellar time to fully realize its considerable potential.

Domaine Faiveley is located in France, at the heart of Viticultural Burgundy, between Dijon and Beaune in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
This illustrious company has been based in Nuits St Georges since the days of Pierre Faiveley who founded the business in 1825. His son Joseph gave his name to the family business, to be followed by the first François, Georges who was instrumental in founding the Chevaliers du Tastevin, Guy who developed the business in the Côte Chalonnaise, François who has recently retired and now his son Erwan, born in 1979.
Historically based in the Côte de Nuits capital, the Faiveley family has progressively extended its domaine and today owns vineyards in the finest climats in Burgundy - Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet, Mercurey and others. The vineyards are very fragmented. The average surface area per appellation is around just 1 hectare. The number of bottles produced for each wine is therefore very limited.
