A ripe yet cool and very fresh nose of wild red berries, earth and a hint of the sauvage marries into textured, intense and solidly voluminous flavors that are presently displaying some mild astringency on the moderately dry finish. While this is by no means unpleasant, this would best be enjoyed with the proper foods as it may dry out in time as there are wood tannins on the finish. As with the 2003, optimists will wait a few more years and pessimists will drink up now.

Domaine Faiveley is located in France, at the heart of Viticultural Burgundy, between Dijon and Beaune in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
This illustrious company has been based in Nuits St Georges since the days of Pierre Faiveley who founded the business in 1825. His son Joseph gave his name to the family business, to be followed by the first François, Georges who was instrumental in founding the Chevaliers du Tastevin, Guy who developed the business in the Côte Chalonnaise, François who has recently retired and now his son Erwan, born in 1979.
Historically based in the Côte de Nuits capital, the Faiveley family has progressively extended its domaine and today owns vineyards in the finest climats in Burgundy - Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet, Mercurey and others. The vineyards are very fragmented. The average surface area per appellation is around just 1 hectare. The number of bottles produced for each wine is therefore very limited.
