Darkest crimson with opaque core. Sweet red cherry. Much sweeter and more red-fruited than the Montlandrie. Juicier too and fruit forward. Papery texture. Juicy fruit escapes around the dry tannins like a river round the rocks.

La Petite Eglise is the outstanding Second wine of Château L'Eglise-Clinet. This Cru is among the best in Pomerol, thanks to his owner Denis Durantou. The 4,5 hectares estate has been in the family since the 18th century. It is mostly planted in Merlot, but there is a significant p roportion of Cabernet Franc (15%). The vines are quite old, more than forty years. They are rooted in a nice well-drained clay and gravel soil.
L'Eglise-Clinet wines are marked by the proportion of Cabernet Franc which gives straightness and firmness, so they can open after ten years. They are exceptionally well-framed and condensed and display pure fruit and classy tannins. They can age very long.
