Subtle notes of wood and menthol don't unduly intrude upon the appeal of the pretty and perfumed aromas of red currant, cherry, leather and warm earth that display plenty of sauvage character. The delicious and comparatively fleshy broad-shouldered flavors possess solid mid-palate density that seems almost supple yet still firm supporting tannins appear as the complex finish sits on the palate. For my taste this is still several years away from its apogee and I would advise continued forbearance.

Domaine Faiveley is located in France, at the heart of Viticultural Burgundy, between Dijon and Beaune in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
This illustrious company has been based in Nuits St Georges since the days of Pierre Faiveley who founded the business in 1825. His son Joseph gave his name to the family business, to be followed by the first François, Georges who was instrumental in founding the Chevaliers du Tastevin, Guy who developed the business in the Côte Chalonnaise, François who has recently retired and now his son Erwan, born in 1979.
Historically based in the Côte de Nuits capital, the Faiveley family has progressively extended its domaine and today owns vineyards in the finest climats in Burgundy - Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet, Mercurey and others. The vineyards are very fragmented. The average surface area per appellation is around just 1 hectare. The number of bottles produced for each wine is therefore very limited.
