The second wine, the 2012 Les Pensees de Lafleur (about one-half the entire production), is a blend of 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Franc. It is a mid-weight, delicate wine displaying hints of sweet cherries, plums, licorice, wet gravel and earth. This supple, medium-bodied, pleasant offering should easily drink well for 10-15+ years.

The illustrious and famed Bordeaux negotiant firm of Jean Pierre Moueix was founded by Jean Pierre Moueix in 1937 and now owns and holds exclusive rights to sell and manage some of the greatest vineyards on the right bank of Bordeaux. Libourne, Bordeauxâ??s great rival city across the Dordogne, has attracted many famous and successful wine firms. Among such firms, Jean Pierre Moueix has become the most recognized worldwide. The properties of Jean Pierre Moueix can be found in the appellations of Pomerol, St. Emilion and Lalande de Pomerol. Each estate is carefully selected by Christian Moueix. The Moueix family and their long-time winemaker, Jean Claude Berrouet, have defined a style of winemaking distinguished by integrity and total devotion to the expression of each individual vineyard.
This singular wine was born in 1987 as a young sibling to the inestimable Lafleur. Benefiting from the same care in the cellar, Les Pensées is approachable earlier than its elder but expresses the same complexity of this remarkable vineyard. Only 500 cases of Les Pensées are produced on average every year. The wine is rare and is considered on the level of other â??second growthsâ? of Pomerol such as Trotanoy, Vray Croix de Gay, Le Gay or Nenin as examples.
