This is the top-shelf Pinot Grigio from Pighin that is light and luminous with plenty of varietal character. The Pighin 2019 Collio Pinot Grigio shows white peach, pear, grapefruit, fresh cinnamon and balanced almond. The wine is lean in texture, but there is enough depth and volume to pair with spicy chicken wings or codfish baccal?

Pighin's story begins in 1963, when brothers Luigi, Ercole and Fernando purchased a 200 hectare estate in Risano, in the Friuli Grave D.O.C. area, which belonged to a noble friulan family. After a radical reworking of the estate and the creation of vast vineyards and orchards, in 1967 the new Winery centre was built including offices and modern cellars designed by the wold-famous architect Gino Valle. 1968 saw the acquisition of the estate in Spessa di Capriva, in the Collio D.O.C. area, comprising 30 hectares of vineyards and a vinification cellar, which was completely revamped and properly equipped. This acquisition guaranteed the Winery a production range which covers two of the most renowned production areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia and of Italy. In 2004 the wineries went entirely under the control of Fernando Pighin, his wife Danila, his son Roberto and his daughter Raffaella, who now carry on with great love and enthusiasm the management of the family companies.
