There is enough wood to notice and it carries a slightly lacquered note that is subtle but annoying as it detracts from the purity of the otherwise pretty red berry fruit and soft earth aromas. There is good volume and punch to the rich and round medium-bodied flavors that possess solid length though the wood resurfaces on the finish. This is a very awkward wine and while this specific sample might not be fully representative of the final cuv¨¦e as barrels can, and often do, vary considerably, there are enough issues present to concern me.

Nicolas Potel has released his new Collection Bellenum, a selection of mature burgundy of unimpeachable provenance.
These wines have been selected out of more than 2000 wines, thanks to Nicolas's excellent contacts with famous estates that have been secretely keeping in the cellars some rarities.
All the wines have never moved from Burgundy and will be shipped after the summer 2012. Each bottle is numbered, bears the release date and is packed in a nice wooden case.

Bellene ... The origin of the name comes from Bellene Belenos, an ancient Gallic god of sun and beauty similar to Apollo to the Greeks and to the god of the sun to the Celtic. The first name of Beaune City Belena was falling on the roman period, then in the Middle Ages was renamed Belena Bellene Baulne and in the 18th century to finally have it is now Become, "Beaune".
